| Dear Pamela, |
This month we celebrated our Independence. A bold and world changing event whose effects are still unfolding. We established ourselves as free and independent from Tyranny. The ideas in our Declaration of Independence were not necessarily new. Many of the ideals our Founding Fathers established were ancient. They distilled centuries of different governing pratices that went as far back as Aristotle. They borrowed ideas taken from all kinds of peoples and places, among them the Grand Council of the Iroquis Six Nations, to the Freemasons who were found throughout the 13 colonies. They were noble and rightgeous ideals that motivated nearly everyone in the colonies to put their lives on the line.
The 52 signers were declared revolutionaries and traitors and made wanted men, some dead or alive, by King George lll. It was the first time in history any colony stood up to England. While I was in Philadelphia, giving tours of some of most Historic sites in the country, my head spun with stories. Endless stories of miracles and near misses. We reached a terrifying low where we nearly lost everything, only to be re-inspired by the words of Thomas Paine about what is real and true and worthy of sacrificing our lives for.
As Americans, this is our inheritence. We had Fore-Fathers that took the future generations into consideration and wanted to leave something worthy and enduring for us to live by. Alot of us would say that a new kind of Tyranny took hold, that we have been rendered as powerless as we were as the Kings subjects. If that is so, it is because we have allowed it.
While recording the prophecies of the Elders, I learned that they believe that there is something mysterious and powerful unfolding. A time when the Children of Earth would wake up and come together as one diverse human family committed to coming into right relationship with all of our relations, all living beings on Mother Earth.
We have among us today countless brave souls, speaking out against what is not working, especially with the enviroment. They are Green Revolutionaries and they come from all corners of the Earth. All leading the way towards a better understanding of what is right for our future generations. I have featured a few of my personal favorites. You may recognize some of them, no doubt you have a list of your own. The ones I have listed have been willing to put their lives and careers on the line, every moment of every day. They never stop, they are committed with every breath they take.
We are in the critical hour, again, a terrifying new low place, and like before we have real heroes leading the way towards the Vision mankind has been carrying for all time. A time when peace and love will prevail. "Let the Great Healing begin" as Leonard Peltier would say.
Blessings, Pamela Rickenbach | |

Wangari Muta Maathai
If you do not know who she is, and you care for the enviroment, you should know her. She plants trees. She has been arrested many times, imprisoned, and even beaten unconscious for it. In 1977, she planted nine trees in her backyard and founded a movement. In the 1980's, her husband divorced her on the grounds that she was "too educated, too strong, too successful, too stubborn and too hard to control. Her organization has planted over 30 million trees so far. ...more

Leonard Peltier
I could not mention Green Revolutionaries without putting Leonard Peltier at the top of my list.
